New, long interview coming soon via Shade.jp

Since I used Shade3D on U7 project quite a bit, an interview where I go about my pipeline and concept art in general will be featured on the Shade website. Along with it, a couple of new concepts and screenshots taken during their production, providing a bit of "behind-the-scenes". Link to the interview coming soon!

Refreshed portfolio

Had to make an unexpected and swift portfolio service change. Behance Pro, I've been using without any issues for two years, is going to turn into Adobe Portfolio that forces you to buy subscription for any of their CC plans. Since China is boycotted by Adobe (and has been for years), I got an email saying that I can't get any of CC's and I can find myself a new service. And I better do it fast before my website is shut down. How nice... ^_^ Fuckers.

Anyway, I already moved to Squarespace (URL stays the same, obviously, www.ak-art.net), which seem to be pretty decent although customizing takes a bit of work. So, for now, portfolio is a bit raw but when I finally manage to find a while, I'll fine tune it a bit for sure.

'The Universe of Seven' announced

Sooo, here’s the reason for all that recent teasing and really long break in posting anything relevant. From October 2014, I’ve been a lead concept artist on an upcoming new franchise ‘The Universe of Seven’. This exciting IP will be released gradually in form of books and games, with the first wave to hit throughout 2016 and 2017. You can check some of the concepts prepared for U7 in my Behance gallery and for more information + art visit official website: http://www.uof7.com

More stuff and info will be released gradually, as we will work on the project development. In the meantime, you can check out the goods we've prepared so far and make sure to Subscribe to stay up to date with the incoming ‘Fall of Kyos’. All hail the pinz!

On official Shade 3D channel

Official Shade 3D Channel on YouTube picked up my Gumroad tutorial and started publishing the clips, couple of them at a time. So, if you want to check them out without downloading them (in 1080p), you'll be able to find all of them there soon.

'Introduction to Shade 3D' is up.

OK, so my brief (well, 2.5 hours) intro to Shade is up for download on Gumroad. More content on Shade will come (probably project-based, showing the pipeline from start to finish). To get the goodies, go here.

CEEK - Jewellery Shop

As my cooperation with CEEK continues, new options are being prepared. One of the newest additions is a jewellery store with Richline collection, which will have its own VR environment. Based, on course, on my concept art (though very little is seen in the clip below). Soon, new batch of artworks will be published. Check here for an article about it.

Shade 3D tutorial coming up

Yesterday, exactly 12 months on the current gig have passed. Tons of concepts done (and other art-related stuff) and the official website is about to launch. Some of that art was accomplished with an assistance from Shade 3D, pretty kick-ass 3D app from Japan. Since it's relatively unknown to the 'Western audience', I'm cooking a small introductory tutorial, which will be available for free on my Gumroad in a week or two. Later on, if there is any interest, more specific, project oriented tutorials will follow. Cheers.

On the cover of 'Если'

Still busy putting finishing touches on the promo website for the upcoming game I'm concepting for. In the meantime, here's one of my images on the latest cover of 'Если' (e.g. 'If') a Russian magazine about science-fiction and 'things to come'. This issue is about the future of robotics.

New stuff is coming... eventually...

Oh, boy, it's been a long time since the last post, if I may state the obvious. What can I say? I've been working round the clock on my current gig, a very exciting TBA (soon) game for PC, scheduled for release in 2016. Over 9 months of solid work so far makes it the longest project I've been involved with to date. I've produced tons of concept art, storyboards, even animatics, some of which I hope to share with you once the project info is released, hopefully within the next month or two.

Apart from that, I'm trying to find some time for 'Razordome', currently preparing a layout for each individual page, polishing the script and planning all the interactive content. I'm also working on a couple of teaser images that will be added to the project's official website, along with some additional info. Till next post.

'Razordome' - the work begins

In the midst of all the client's work, I've started working on my first interactive artbook 'Razordome', which is a visual development of a sci-fi story, scheduled for release in 2016. It'll be full of concept art, storyboards, sketches and even matte paintings, with a bunch of short clips and animated camera projections. You'll be able to follow an exciting story and enjoy some hard-core action. I will post some updates about it here but for regular info and small teasers, make sure to check my RD developer's journal on Facebook. Join the League!

'Jupiter Ascending' concept art

Finally, time has come to share some of the concepts prepared for 'Jupiter Ascending'. It's been 3 years already since I worked on that movie and it was great to finally see it in all its IMAX glory. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour and rush to the nearest cinema. It's one of those things you have to see on big screen. For my part, I worked on Aegis cruiser and ZERO's (flying mechs) assembly and deployment system.

Anyway, below is a glimpse and check the full gallery here. Let there be spaceships!

CEEK

OK, here's the first project I worked on recently. CEEK is a next-generation fully immersive entertainment and social virtual reality platform being developed by Next Galaxy Corp. featuring a combination of live, virtual and augmented events. For this ground-breaking project, I designed the main locations to be visited and explored in VR, many promotional materials as well as Ceekars™ - high-tech audio headset, an integral part of the whole experience.

Check out the selected concepts here

Interview about concept art featuring some 'Jupiter Ascending' work

Hope you guys enjoyed 'Jupiter Ascending', which is already called as one of the most visually spectacular movies ever. Here's a short interview I gave about some of the aspects of concept design and workflow, featuring a couple of artworks prepared for 'JA'. Full gallery, as well as concepts created for two other projects I've worked in the past few months, are coming later this month.

Welcome in 2015!

And here we are, in 2015. I'm still busy with professional work, pretty much 24/7, so nothing personal to post at the moment. I know, I know... However, what little time I have to do something of my own, I use for a personal project I mentioned in the last post. Hopefully, I'll be able to give a small sneak peak in a couple of months. But hey, three of the pro gigs I worked on between 2012-now are soon to be out there in the world, in February/March, starting, of course, with long-awaited 'Jupiter Ascending'. That means quite a big update to the portfolio and many cool artworks to show. More info soon!
