New major film gig

Seems like folks in Babelsberg miss me a bit. I have been attached to a huge sf movie project, set to be released sometime in 2014.. Can't say anything about it yet apart from the fact that it's a concept artist wet dream :). Stay tuned for more news.

Task force + quick tutorial

My little homage to awesome series like 'Metal Gear Solid', 'Appleseed' or 'Ghost in the Shell'. Small squad during leisure time (more or less). Got the idea while flipping through downloaded scan of 'Appleseed' (I know, I know, shame on me).

And here's a quick tutorial on how the image was made, hopefully it will be useful for those who are interested:

95ers new trailer

There's a new trailer for the movie I mentioned a couple posts ago, available on it's website: http://95ers.com. It features glimpses of two shots I prepared for the production, one at 00:31 and the other at 01:23. The total length of the original shots is 16 seconds and they will be added soon to my updated demo reel.

Devil of a Girl

Work on '95ers' is slowly coming to an end (longer behind-the-scenes post coming soon) and already a new gig in progress. This time, it's a stylized and dark universe of 'Devil Girl of Devonshire', an indie production by Lobster Trick Films (http://www.lobstertrick.com). Just like with '95ers', I'm dealing here with multiple shots, lots of matte painting, compositing and vfx.

Here are some pictures taken on the set of the scenes I'm creating virtual environments and matte paintings for: click here.

95ers: Echoes

Interested in space travel? Currently, I'm working on three matte/VFX shots for an epic indie feature, a sf story '95ers: Echoes' (http://95ers.com). This ambitious project, almost 5 years in the making, is about to be completed soon. Since post-apocalyptic stuff somehow became a kind of my signature, I'm dealing, among others, with a grand vista of destroyed Washington, which is a setting for an action sequence and which will also end up on an official movie poster.

For these three shots, I have to wear many hats: concept artist, CG modeler and animator, matte painter, VFX guy and finally, compositor. It's quite a ride, which results you'll see in March. In the meantime, you can check out the movie's blog for some more info.
